- 34 years experience in the Racing Industry
- Head Riding Master for Zimbabwe Jockey Academy for 2 years
- He was then appointed as a Stipendiary Steward before joining the SA Jockey Academy in 2019

- Overseas racing in Macau, Mauritius, Australia and Zimbabwe

Mr John Motaung

- 19 years experience in the Racing Industry which included working at Summerhill Stud as the Pre-Training Manager
- Received International experience in racehorse Breeding, Sales Preparation and Pre-Training in Kentucky, Florida and the English National Stud, UK.
- Joined the SA Academy as an assistant riding master in 2019

- Retired as a professional jockey after winning 10 GRADE ONE races including the DURBAN JULY (1982 aboard Jamaican Rhumba) and HOLIDAY INNS (1983 aboard North Island)
- 42 years experience in the racing industry
- worked in Malaysia, Singapore and the UAE as both a Trainer and Workrider
- Joined the SA Academy as riding master in 2015

Mrs Bernadette Smith
Kitchen Manager and Housemother

- Extensive experience in Hospitality and Catering
- Manages the Academy kitchen catering 3 meals a day with assistance from 2 cooks
- Is Housemother to apprentices in the Senior Dorm and in the Girls Dorm
